A Couple of Cute Pictures.

Feeding the Dogs

Drew has decided it is his job to feed the dogs when we get home at night. As soon as the garage door opens in front of us he says "I peed da dods" It is a big job because it requires taking the lid off the bin, reaching in to get a scoopful and then carefully dumping that into the dog bowl and then putting the lid back on the bin. He knows each of these steps and wants to complete each one without help....he gets mad if you try to help him. Of course he can't quite reach the food in the bin so he gets a little help filling up the cup.

Update!

Sorry it has been so long since I updated this blog!

Drew is growing up so fast and I can't keep up with him or this website!

Well, Drew turned 2 on May 16! So hard to believe 2 years has come and gone just like that. Although when I look at him it is so obvious he is a 2 year old! At his 2 year check up Dr. Lee was amazed at how much he is talking. He puts together 4 and 5 word sentences and asks all kinds of questions. His stats were 29 pounds and 34 inches...again right in the 50th percentile.

He is still really into reading books, but he also has a new obsession with cars and monster trucks! He has three toy monster trucks and they go everywhere with him. He even has to have them at the dinner table. He also loves the movie Cars. He watches it non stop when we are at home.....I don't feel too guilty about this because there is not a tv at the daycare :)

Drew had a shared birthday party with Rylee (she turned 3 on April 23) this year at the Little Gym. They invited about 20 of their "closest" friends and had a blast in the gym.

Then for some reason I thought it was time to take away Drew's beloved "beebee". We had gotten down to where he only had the binky for sleep, so I should have just been happy with that for awhile, but I had it in my head that I had to take it away when he was 2. He was so good about it at first. We put all of the binkies in a bag and threw them in the big garbage can. He was really cute he said "Bye Bye BeeBees". And then we took him to Walmart and he got to pick out a new bike. He was all happy until it was time for bed and then What a nightmare! He screamed for 7 hours the first night and the poor boy was devastated. He never asked me for his binky, he just kept saying "beebee garbage" he just didn't know how to comfort himself without it. So the next day was rough since none of us got a lot of sleep. Then the second night, I thought would be better since he was so tired, but no, he cried for 5 hours. We finally had to just shut his door and our door and let him cry. It was way worse than the cry it out at 6 months old. The next day was horrible....we were all grumpy from no sleep and I think that was the most frustrating day I have had since being a parent. I was totally regretting my decision and wishing I had waited to take the binky away, but I knew there was no going back at the point. I was not looking forward to that night, but luckily he fell asleep within an hour and we both finally got some sleep. Thank goodness we never have to do that again!

Then our next challenge came a couple of weeks ago when Drew decided to JUMP out of his crib. We put him down for a nap and all of a sudden we heard a loud thump from his room, so Travis ran in there and he was standing in the middle of his room. I asked him how he got out of his crib and he said "I jumped" so I said "show me" and he got both feet up on the railing and was perched there like a bird and then he literally jumped to the floor. The railing was all the way up, it is at least 3 feet high. What a monkey! I suppose we have gymnastics to thank for the learning to jump! So then we had to move in the toddler bed, which was another challenge trying to get him to stay in bed and not get into everything in his room. He would get excited and want to lay down in it, but then he would say "no close the door....leab it open" which i could not do because he would instantly be out in the hall. So finally we got Cars sheets and after a few nights of wrangling him to stay in his bed he is finally successful in sleeping all night. He still has a few episodes of waking up and crying at his door, I have also opened his door to find him a asleep on the floor....but he is getting the hang of it. Taking away the binky, moving to the "boo boo bed" (big boy bed) and the fact that the sun is up longer has really changed his sleeping habits. He is only sleeping 7-8 hours at night and then taking one nap for about 2 hours during the day. He takes 3 hour naps at daycare and at Nana's.

In June he moved up to the Preschool at Little Luke's! This is a big deal because he will start working on potty training. I don't think he is quite ready yet, but he is really interested. He can sit on the toilet by himself and he asks to, but he doesn't actually go potty in there. He is starting to tell us if he is wet or poopy, so that is a start. I am not really looking forward to potty training, but I suppose I don't really want to change diapers for much longer either.

Drew is now 25 months old and he is a ball of fire! He still has a very funny deep belly laugh and it is impossible not to laugh when he does. He is very good at entertaining himself and he loves to play outside. He will stay out in the backyard kicking the soccer ball all by himself. He also loves the dogs and is constantly chasing and laying on them and giving them hugs and kisses. He is also counting and starting to recognize shapes and colors. He knows the names to lots of his books and can tell you generally what the story is about. He also is a little tape recorder. He repeats everything we say. He will randomly say things like "how cool" "wowee" and "holy moly" he also says "what a mess" he is a little comedian.

As for Travis, he is gearing up for hunting season....he drew a sheep tag in Idaho and an elk tag in Wyoming, plus the regular antelope, deer and elk hunting in Idaho. he is probably going to be out of town most of Sept and Oct this year.

I have some new motivation lately and I have decided to train for a triathlon. In August I will swim, bike and run in the Emmett Sprint Triathlon. Hopefully it goes well.
